The Book of Ecclesiastes (Kohelet) is well-established as one of the 24 books of the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible), and is read every year during Sukkot.  However, some early commentators raised doubts about whether Ecclesiastes actually belonged in the Bible, and a few even argued that it should be banned!  In this session we explore this once-controversial book and the way in which Jewish ways of reading inform fundamental decisions about the nature of sacred texts.
