As featured in a recent episode of the PBS series “Family Photos USA” Tim Burke, a Detroit artist and collector, has discovered approximately 10,000 negatives discarded by the former Blair Studio. They are primarily photographs of Jewish family and communal events in Detroit, from the 1950s through the early 1970s, taken by Blair’s owner, Max Schrut. These negatives are the source of an exhibit planned to debut at Limmud Michigan 2020. In the session, Tim will describe his discovery, his work, and the meaning he finds in it. Tim will be joined by Tequila Minsky, Max Schrut’s daughter, a photojournalist based in Greenwich Village. The exhibit is sponsored by Limmud Michigan, the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan, REBOOT, and the Detroit Jewish News.
