Glimpse into the minds of those who took their lives at Masada in 73 CE. Discover the story behind the story to uncover a great debate in Jewish history that had grave consequences for the rest of Jewish history.
This session will touch upon some of the most fundamental questions of Jewish survival: What lay behind the clamoring for revolt, and why did others oppose it? Why did the people at Masada continue fighting even after Jerusalem was destroyed? What role does nationalism play in Judaism? What is the Jewish perspective on taking up arms when defeat is inevitable?
